Because inquiring minds want to know…

Well, not inquiring minds.  Just one mind.  Mine.

    I want to know.

(And this is really bugging me, just so you know.)

Do you change your clothes when you get home?

I know, I know.  A question of the utmost importance.  I really couldn’t say for sure if the sun will rise tomorrow if I don’t get this burning question answered.

See, it’s like this…the reason for me asking.  My entire life, I have always been a get up, get ready kind of person.  And I stayed that way all day, until it was time for bed when I would put on my pajamas.

When I met my husband, I learned that he was the exact opposite.  Theverysecond he walks in the door, he head upstairs to change out of his ’street clothes.’  It doesn’t matter what he’s wearing…work clothes or jeans, he has to put on his comfy clothes as soon as he gets home.  And it is kind of funny, because if we are out, then home for a while, then going back out again, etc. etc. he will change every single time we come home and get ready to leave again.  Get it?

In fact, his parents are this way too.  And I never got it.  All the changing was enough to drive me crazy.

But slowly, I have morphed into a changer.

    Hard core.

I head upstairs to take off my jeans in favor of my elastic waist yoga pants every time I walk in the door.  And then back to the jeans when it is time to leave.

Yoga pants, jeans.  Yoga pants, jeans.  All day long.

Really, I guess if I know I’m leaving again in an hour or so, I’ll leave the jeans on.  But otherwise, I search out my comfy elastic waistband garments as soon as I walk in my house, like a Bloodhound on the trail of a prison escapee.

So the reason this question came about is because I recently just stopped by two different friends homes and lo and behold, they both answered the doors in their comfy faded yoga pant and t-shirt ensembles.  And I about fell over.  Because I’ve  never seen either of these chicks out and about wearing anything but a great, pulled together outfit.  But I caught them!  In good ol’ comfy clothes.  And I was so happy I danced back to my car, feeling a little bit less like a slob frump.

What about you?  Do you get dressed and stay dressed for the day?  Or do you have your good ol’ comfys for hanging out around the house?

This inquiring mind wants to know.

Unless I’m wearing something uncomfortable, I do not change again until my PJs call for me…

Absolutely. I work outside the home, so when we walk in the door at night, I go straight to my bedroom to change into something else.

On weekends, I pretty much wear the same thing all day. But it’s way more comfortable than my work clothes.

It just depends. I will stay in my pj’s until I have gotten a shower for the day, but my pj’s basically consist of comfy clothes. Once I’m showered and ready for the day, I am always in jeans and don’t change back until it’s bed time.

So you guys must go through tons of laundry, huh?

If I have no where to go I stay in my comfy outfit all day…OK going on a trip to Jewel or Walgreens does not count for me to have to look decent..presentable- yes, not scary- typically …I will go there in my comfy clothes…. When I get home from work during the week and have no where to go I change into my comfy clothes for the night. Glad to get that ghost out of my closet :)

I just never leave the house except for once or twice a week, so I’m pretty much in pajamas all day every day. Well, okay, not quite, but I often don’t get changed until mid-morning and then it’s usually into sweats and a T-shirt. I rarely wear jeans around the house. (unless it’s laundry day and both pairs of sweats are in the wash!) So if you catch me on laundry day, I might be in old, tattered, unsightly undergarments, but over top, it’ll be my church clothes!

Change after I get home from work - sweats with elastic waist are the all time favorite. If I know I have to head back out somewhere, then I just stay in what I have on. Too much effort to change and then change back. Our line at home is “Don’t go changing….”

I work outside of the home Mon-Fri and I am required to “dress up” so I absolutely change to comfy clothes right when I walk in the door. On the weekends, I get ready and it’s usually jeans unless I know I’m not doing anything then it’s comfy clothes again! Good post, it’s kinda neat to know people’s clothing habits and to feel good that you’re not the only one in comfy clothes every chance you have!!

yes i change. especially if i am done for the day, no more outings, into comfy clothes and i toss my jewelry aside, wedding ring included. which might be why i found it at the bottom of the laundry basket this weekend.

Oh, I am married to a changer. Doesn’t matter where else we have to go, it’s into the sweats for him. I hate the actual process of changing clothes, so I stay dressed. Weird, I know, but I feel slightly claustrophic when I’m changing clothes. So even if I’m not as comfortable as I could be, I’ll stay in my jeans until bedtime.

My DH is a changer, too, but that’s because he can’t wait to get out of his suit/work clothes when he gets home. On the weekend, he lives in track pants — WITH SWEATS UNDERNEATH. If I wore sweats under a pair of pants, I’d look like the Michelin Man! But he’s a thin guy with long legs — guess it works for him.

I like to be comfy if I’m home — I’ll definitely change if I don’t feel comfortable. But, if I don’t WANT to be comfortable (e.g., trying to keep myself from snuggling up on the couch instead of doing things around the house), I’ll keep on the jeans!

    My husband does this.

But I get dressed and leave those clothes in place the whole day.

Heck, if I tried to change my clothes every time I walked in and out the door whilst simultaneously juggling a newborn’s schedule, I wouldn’t get anything done.

I’m TOTALLY with YOU girlfriend! I change the instant I get home. And sometimes, it’s just into my pj’s - not even REAL clothes…I go for the ever-so-embarrasing-if-the-UPS-man-comes-to-the-door pj’s!!!!! HA!

My hubby is the same way as us. Makes for much more laundry, which I detest…but I obviously think it’s worth it because I continue to do it!

I dress for the day. If it is something for which I am sacrificing comfort for fashion, then I’ll change at the end of the day when I am home for good.

My husband has to change the minute he walks in the door. He takes off his jeans and t-shirt to put on jeans and t-shirt. It makes a ton of sense to me…

When I worked at jobs that required more formal attire, I changed the minute I walked into the house. Now, I manage to get away with work clothes that are actually fairly comfortable (knit slacks, anyone?) - I can live with looking less spiffy at work and generally don’t feel the need to change when I get home. This is good since I’m generally rushing right back out the door with the kids anyway. :)

I go straight into my PJs more often than not. And I get home from the office by 5:00 most nights! Any number of people have “caught me”. But the surest transition from work to home is to shed the office “skin”, literally.

I’m not a changer, unless going out somewhere special (which isn’t too often).

My dh used to change more, but not as much now! When he worked in the Children’s Casualty Dept (he’s a doc) he used to shower and change when he got home before even touching the kids, as he didn’t want them to catch anything!

My work clothes are scrubs, usually innondated with various fluids from paint to snot thanks to my preschoolers (not mine, thank you!) so those come off immediately upon entering the house. But I classify jeans as comfy, so if those go on they stay on for the day.

Once I am home for the day, within 5 seconds flat, I’m wearing pj bottoms. I might keep my top on or I might take it of depending on the day.

On the rare days (like today) that I am still in my jeans at dinner, I will change when the girls go down for the night.

LushMan wears a suit to work so as soon as he’s in the door, he is heading upstairs to put on shorts or sweats.

Most of the time, I’m a jeans or yoga pants kind of person. So I get dressed in the morning and stayed dressed. If I have to actually leave the house for a work meeting, then I changed as soon as I walk in the door.

Oh, and I tend to add clothes as I go throughout the day. I’m roasting hot in the morning, every morning, no matter the temperature. As the day progresses, I get cold — usually shortly after lunch — by bedtime I’m wearing multiple layers and huddling under a heavy blanket on the sofa. Even in the summer.

This cracked me up because I get after my daughter when she changes multiple times throughout the day! :) To defend myself though all of her clothing changes result in way too much laundry and her not having enough to wear.

I guess once I’m dressed, I’m dressed and there isn’t any changing unless I’m doing some sort of chore where I might ruin my clothes…like painting. And there has been a lot of that going on at my house lately!

I have to dress up every day for work (heels, hose, skirts) so the minute I walk in the door I am up the stairs to change. I call it “lounging clothes”. Not quite pj’s (though I have been known to sleep in them) but certainly not anything I’d wear out in public. Hubby does too (I think he got it from me). One day recently I realized my husband rarely sees me in anything but lounging clothes since he’s gone before I leave for work and I get home before he does. Anywho…..yes, I’m right there with you.

Too funny… my family seems to be a bit of everything. The first thing I do when I walk in is change into my fleece jogging pants (no I don’t jog…)but I’ll leave whatever shirt I had on at work, so sometimes the combo is just LOVELY. My 10 year old takes his socks and shoes off IMMEDIATELY- no matter that he puts them back on/off to go back in/out side five or six times. My 11 year old stays COMPLETELY dressed (socks, shoes, belt even) until bedtime, and so does the man in my life.

I prefer comfort to looks any day when I’m at home… heck, I even wear my slippers in the car every morning when I take my youngest to school! And I use to be such a fashion plate when I was younger….

For me, it depends on what I am wearing. If I am in normal street clothes, I don’t usually change. But, if I am in dress clothes or in my scrubs from work, I change the second I get home! So, I guess I am a hybrid!

You know…I am away from the computer for a few days…just a FEW days so that I can take care of things like packing a 8×8x16 foot POD and I miss out on important topics like this on.

    What is up with that???

As for me, I do change after work, but in my house, I feel “done” when the kids are in bed. As soon as they go down, I get in my comfy pants and T. (NOT PJ’s…strangely enough, I get in PJ’s about 2 or so hours later to go to bed.)
