Because When You Are Five A Simple Roll of Mints Can Lead To A Lengthy Illness

It is Tuesday and my friend Mary is hosting Tiny Talk Tuesday, today. Tuesday. Okay?

It’s a fun way to hear about other moms’ silly little ones and jot down your own memories of all those cute things that your kids say.

I just have one funny story from this week. I was driving in the car with my son, Taco, and we were pulled up to a stop sign. While we were waiting to get thru the 4 way stop, a man approached the car with a collection bucket and his Lyons Club vest on. I rolled down my window, threw a couple bucks in his bucket and he handed me the roll of mints. We thanked each other and I was on my way. Nothing too out of the ordinary about that, right?

Unless you are 5 years old. As we were driving away, Taco asked why I gave that man money? And I said that he was just taking up a collection for kids that are sick.

Taco then asked me, “Am I really that sick?”

And I said, “No, not you. Kids that are really, really sick. Like in hospitals. Kids who need some extra help so they can get better.”

He seemed pretty content with that.

Until we got home. He ran in the house and told my husband how sick he was. And then he told him that I gave some man money to make him better.

So we went through the process of explaining the whole donation thing to him again. For kids that are REALLY SICK.

And then we went to Grandma’s house and he told her he was so sick he was going to end up in the hospital if lots of people didn’t buy candy from the man on the corner.

He doesn’t really seem to be comprehending the whole good deed thing.

    That is hilarious! Too funny!

I wish I’d have a better memory for these little stories. I imagine I must have some, too, but can never ever think of it. Otherwise, I’d be all over Tiny Talk Tuesday. For now, I’ll just enjoy reading others.

Will be sending you an email today. Yesterday was So. Crazy.

That is so funny. I never thought about how strange that might seem to a kid.

Isn’t it funny how many times you can explain something and you think they understand and then… obviously not! Very cute!!

Aren’t 5 year olds the cutest, sweetest, funniest, most frustrating creatures on this earth?! Gotta love ‘em. I had a few fun thoughts on the world roll my way yesterday from our 5 year old and so I thought I’d join in on the Tiny Talk. Thanks for sharing!

The things that go on in the mind of children cracks me up. It makes me wonder what they’re thinking when they DON’T tell us! :)

I can just see you next time the man comes to your window for a donation. “No sir. Please go away. I don’t have the brainpower to explain you all over again.” hee hee

Of course then you may have to explain why you didn’t “pay the man off” to keep your son from getting sick. So never mind that idea. *wink*
