She (Finally) Flies Thru The Air With The Greatest Of Ease.
I am experiencing post-long-weekend-letdown disorder today.
I wish I had pictures of my long weekend to share, but lo, ’twas not meant to be.
I charged the camera battery on Friday. And I made sure to pack the camera with its fully charged battery on Saturday.
On Saturday, when I went to take my first picture of the weekend known […]

The Watcher
Someday, it will be their turn to watch her.
But for now, she sits on a bench.
She is too young to participate and she is use to her role on the sidelines.
A cheerleader, but never a participant.
Today she is tired, worn out from her own busy day of preschool and playing outside.
So she just sits.
And she watches.

Kindergarten: Reading, Writing, Mai-Tai’s and Mojito’s.
I try to volunteer a couple of times a month in my son’s kindergarten class. I enjoy seeing him in his school environment. I never had an opportunity to be a classroom volunteer with my two older girls because I had the younger kids at home. Now, I have the time.
So off I go every […]

If only it were that easy.
Random chatter in our kitchen tonight.
I was loading the dishwasher and my eight year old daughter was propped in her usual spot on the counter giving me the nightly play by play on the inner workings of the third grade.
FYI, can you believe kids are wearing bras in third grade? I about fell over. But […]

I can’t put away the winter coats just yet.
It’s official.
I am that mom.
You know, the one who sends her kid to school not dressed warmly enough? And everybody looks at that poor kid and quietly whispers about the incompetent mother who couldn’t check the weather before letting her kid leave the house not dressed warmly enough.
That’s me.
Two of my children left for school this […]

Clap your hands and sing “We got spirit, yes we do. We got spirit, how ’bout you?”
My son is 5. He is in kindergarten. He isn’t my first kindergartner, and he won’t be my last.
And yet, I am continually surprised and aggravated when notes come home from school telling me that the kindergarteners are having a SPIRIT WEEK! And everyone should WEAR CERTAIN THINGS ON CERTAIN DAYS! […]

So you can say you knew her when…
Before I show you what I want to show you today, I want to thank each and every one of you for the kind comments and emails I received yesterday. As I sat down and read them, I was overwhelmed and humbled, again, that you come here to read this old blog, and that you […]

I have a lot of questions, but not a lot of answers.
I haven’t been myself lately. The past few weeks I’ve noticed that the happy, funny, and quick thinking me has taken a backseat to an exhausted version of myself.
And I don’t know why.
I have been taking naps with Gracie in the afternoons. I go to bed way too late in the evenings and I oversleep […]

I think I’ve missed out on something
I’m an only child.
I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a sister. To be the big sister, or even the little sister. To look up to someone, or have someone look up to me.
I have no idea what it feels like to share a home and a parent with someone else.
I don’t […]

Even Varmits Have Mothers Too
My son talks about death so matter of factly. He thinks you get old, you get wrinkles, and then BAM! your dead. He even went so far as to tell my mom one time “Grandma…you have wrinkles, you’re gonna get dead pretty soon.” Just what a card-carrying memeber of the AARP wants […]
