    Meet the menagerie.

I never had any pets when I was a kid, with the exception of two goldfish named Bo and Luke.
    Duke.
    Yes, I was a fan.
It was a good show.  And they were never meanin’ no harm.
Plus, being in trouble with the law since the day they were born was kind of a catchy lyric.
    Anyway.  I grew up […]

“If you want to be happy, be.” -tolstoy

Have you ever had one of those days where you feel happy?  I mean, really happy?
The kind of day where you thank the Lord that you are alive and here on this Earth?
I had one of those days yesterday.  And for no reason at all, other than I woke up in the morning.  And after that, […]

    Wide Open Spaces

What is it about wide open fields?

Fields that make you want to run and twirl and sing.  It’s like a scene right out of the Sound of Music.  Only we are a little more casual around here.  And of course minus the nanny.  And the live in help.  But otherwise, the hills are alive.

    It doesn’t […]

“Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.” -vince lombardi

Somebody had a rough practice today.
And that somebody is starting to realize that the sport he loves is a lot of work. And he has a lot to learn.
Today, the coach was “bossing me around too much.”
I think that’s why it is called practice.
But when you are six, that is still a hard thing to understand.
    It’s […]

    Look!

I have a friend in Ireland, that I met through the blog.  And even though an ocean separates us, our lives as wives and mothers are very similiar.
Similiar, except for the fact that she is a talented digiscrapper with her own design business, and I am not.
For no reason at all, other than to be […]

    G & G

I sat down this evening to write a post about K’s grandparents.  They just celebrated 66 years of marriage.  I wish I had something eloquent to say about their years together, the family they’ve built, and the example they’ve set.  But try as I might tonight, the thoughts I am feeling in my heart are not expressing […]

    The Watcher

Someday, it will be their turn to watch her.
But for now, she sits on a bench.
She is too young to participate and she is use to her role on the sidelines.
A cheerleader, but never a participant.
Today she is tired, worn out from her own busy day of preschool and playing outside.
    So she just sits.
    And she watches.

    A day in the life.

First, start the day with a flip.

    Then a bit of coloring.

Take a break from all the coloring when your hand gets tired.

And set up your kitchen in the garage.  Work very hard washing all those dishes.

And then enjoy a little time in the sandbox.

Patiently wait all day, for your siblings to come home from school.  […]

    Pink.

    Fall 2006
    You love pink!
It is your favorite color; you always want to wear pink clothes, something pink in your hair, and all of your shoes are pink.
You proudly tell everyone that your room is pink, and you always want to use a pink plate, spoon and cup.

    Spring 2008
Gracie, I love you as much as you […]

    You Play, You Pay.

    Home sweet home.
Unfortunately, a little to much of this

    and this

    has left me with this
    .
    Yes.
We crammed everything in the back of the Suburban. Wherever it would fit. I was too busy sitting on the beach to worry about taking the time to pack for the trip home.
Except, now that we are home, I don’t really feel […]
