Could there really be seven more things you’d want to know about me? I guess we’ll find out.
I know that most of the mom blog world is probably partaking in Big Mama’s Fashion Fiesta today. Obviously, I am not. Because my closet is a mess. And also, if you’ve seen one workout outfit with pants and a jacket and a little tee that matches the stripe on the pants, well then I believe you have seen them all. Fashion is not my forte.
(That’s for-tay. Not fort.)
((I just don’t know how to add the little accent mark over the e.))
(((So obviously, international accent marks are not my for-tay either.)))
Moving on.
I’ve been tagged! By Queen B!
And to this I let out a big sigh of relief and say “Phew!”
Normally, I don’t sigh in relief at the meme tags. But for about 2 weeks now, I’ve been struggling. And I can really only post so many pictures of my kids before someone is bound to realize this is the most boring blog out there.
So. Here you have it, 7 weird/random/whatever, things about me.
1. I only get the mail once or twice a week. Not because I’m too lazy to walk down the driveway and get it, or because I dread all the bills that arrive daily. I only get the mail a couple of times, or sometimes no times, a week because I hate the pile of mail sitting on my kitchen counter. I only get it out of the mailbox when I have time to sort, read and shred all at the same time. Because one huge pile of mail sitting on the counter leads to another, and then another, and before I know it I am shoving piles of paper into hidden places because I can’t stand the paper clutter on the counter.
I hate piles of paper on the counter.
2. I think I need the Supernanny’s help. Really. How great would it be for someone to come in, lay down the law, and get some routines and order established. Because this whole mom gig? It is a lot of work. A little instruction from Jo-Jo would be nice. And I like all the cool charts and things she makes for the walls.
Except homemade things on the walls start to drive me crazy.
Because they don’t match. So I’d probably take them down.
But I’d still like to see what kind of cool little chart she had made for my family.
3. I have never read Gone With the Wind.
I know. I’m sorry.
I’ve tried. Really, really tried. I just cannot get into.
And shhhhh, I fear I may lose all six of my loyal readers, but I’ve never seen the movie either.
Please don’t hate me.
4. I buy way too many beauty products. Lotions and potions and make up fill up the cabinet in my bathroom. And I hardly ever use them. I always have the best intentions. Always. But I really lack with the follow thru.
I usually end up sticking with my same old routine.
Which is probably why I am stuck with the same old bad skin.
5. I recently studied these photos and the thoughts that accompanied them at Life Before Death. I could not look away. I did not want to look away.
(Warning! DO NOT click the above link if you are not comfortable with seeing images, albeit peaceful ones, of dead human beings.)
I remember every day that it could have been me. Someday, it could still be me.
I was moved and touched and honored to be able to see them and read the thoughts of the subjects.
It’s funny. You can look at a person whose lost their hair to chemo walking down the street, or an elderly person slumped over in a wheelchair sitting in the hallway of a nursing home and you dismiss them. Maybe you feel bad for them, or wonder what they are going thru, who is taking care of them. But you never really know their story.
And everybody has one.
And no matter what someone looks like on the outside or what their physical apperance may say about them, there is always so much more on the inside.
It’s an important lesson to learn. Those pictures reminded me of that.
6. I am a procrastinator. I know I’ve mentioned it here. And things have not gotten any better since then.
I procrastinate. It’s what I do best. I can’t multi-task. I’m not efficient, and I’m never on top of things.
But I can waste time like nobody’s business.
Today for example, after doing laundry all day yesterday, this is what my dining room table looked like.
Oh yes, it did. Actually, it still does.
And somewhere down in the Sunshine State my mother is having heart palpitations.
And do you know why I didn’t get the laundry put away?
Because I was busy.
Cleaning this.
This is a cabinet in my butler’s pantry. (Ooh La La).
And it needed to be cleaned. Today. Before any of that laundry got put away.
Because I make all kinds of sense like that.
So I cleaned it out.
I even washed all the crystal. That wasn’t even dirty. Because we never use it.
But it sure looks nice and sparkly now.
And it was way more fun that putting all that laundry away.
7. I’m a lurker. I comment on the same couple of blogs every day, and there are some I visit weekly or every couple of weeks and read and leave a comment here or there, and then there are the ones where I could be considered a stalker. I just cannot bring myself to leave a comment on this one blog, especially, that I visit almost every day. Because I feel like I’m intruding.
So, I lurk.
And say nothing.
And even though I’m not part of her family, and she doesn’t even know I’m alive, I really enjoy her blog. It reminds me of myself about 11 years ago.
And I smile.
So, now I’ve got to tag 7 for this little game. No pressure. Just seven things about you. And if you don’t do it, no biggie. I’ll still read.
How about:
One of my favorite moms, Pedaling.
Mrs. Bob Villa herself, Lisa at The Coastal Nest.
Chrissy at Tales From the Carpool Lane, because I love her title.
One of the funniest blogs I read, Nicole at On the Run.
Suzy at The Runs, because I admire her dedication to running, so much!
(Can you tell I have a thing for bloggers that run? Could that be any weirder? Like maybe I’ll just be able to run a marathon one day because I’ve been reading their blogs? Sure.)
Darcy at Minnesota Mama. Because she has her act so together. And I do not. See #6.
And for #7, I’m gonna go out on a limb here.
Because it means that the blog I mentioned in #7, the one I lurk in on, who reminds me what being a new mother felt like? I’ll have to tell her I tagged her. Or maybe her mom will tell her for me. That would be good. #7 is Krista.
That’s it! Have fun!

I do the same thing with laundry, I can sort, wash and fold, but I just can’t get it put away!
I only recently saw part of Gone With the Wind and have never read and have no desire to!
I think we already multi-task all day constantly and just can’t add one more task!
Good Meme!

Apparently we are living parallel lives!
I can totally appreciate cleaning obscure spaces in lieu of providing clean clothing for my children. Which is why my junk drawer is currently sparkling while the kids flip their underwear inside out.
Priorities!
And just remember…there is no such thing as too many beauty products! (Just don’t put them all on a gold try like Memaw would.)

Thank you so much for posting your laundry picture. I feel a little better about myself now… because well, that’s what my living room couch looks like… on a REGULAR basis. All of the pics I’ve seen of the inside of your house are always beautiful and so well decorated and put together… it’s nice to know that you’re just a mom like me with lots of laundry, too. Even though I KNOW you are, it’s nice to SEE that you are. So, thanks. Seriously.
Ok, now I have to go waste more time and check out Krista’s blog because I’m curious… and nosy. (But you already knew that…)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Good things to know. I will never mail you anything, that is for sure.
The cabinet clean out makes complete sense to me. As does the Supernanny poster. And the beauty products.
Not sure I’m ready to take on the dead people site.

I cannot believe you haven’t read or seen Gone With The Wind. We had to watch it in my 5th Grade Georgia History class. (What does that say about the state of public education in Georgia?) Everyone giggled when Rhett Butler used the d-word.
I am with you on the laundry procrastination. If it makes you feel any better, my couch looks exactly like your table, only, um, none of it is folded. I better get to work.
Thanks for the tag!

1. I have a pile of mail on the floor behind my chair as I type. I’m going to chuck it in the fireplace today! 2. I hear you, send her here when you’re done with her…she can teach my teenager how to drive without making me want to puke! 3. You didn’t miss anything but the rockin’ dress she made with the drapes. 4. My husband asked me if I had one of EVERYTHING. I said “Yes”. 5. I’ve only seen the person that I loved more than anything in this world dead. Not a good thing. 6. Your table looks like my bed. That’s where I do the sorting. It must be done before bed or we don’t sleep. 7. I think that we might be twins, seperated at birth. But, I’m probably way older than you so maybe not. I’m hoping I don’t get arrested for some of my comments. I’m having way too much fun. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for not tagging me..I’m not interesting, just weird! Have a great weekend!

Gone With The Wind: It’s too long. You’re not missing anything. I’ve never read the book, either.
I was in Chicago on Thursday. I didn’t call because….well, you have 4 kids and a butler’s pantry to clean (I’m sooooooo jealous of your butler’s pantry!!). Next time you might not be so lucky. Because I’m callin’ ya’ll.
Nice shutters. You know I love your shutters. In fact? When I call you next time I’m in town? I’m going to come over and see your shutters. And close them. And then open them. And then close them again. This could go on for hours.
Lotions and potions are fun.
I don’t think you have bad skin! You should see mine! You could curl up and take a nap in one of my pores, they’re so freakin’ huge.
Hey - at least the laundry is done and folded! Plus? It’s good job for the kids to do!!
xoxoxo,
martha

My mother passed “Gone With The Wind” on to all 5 of us daughters, wanting to name one of us Scarlet, but never had the nerve to. She did name one of my sisters Tara after the plantation, though. Every time my sisters or I gave birth to a girl, she would suggest the name Scarlet. Every Time.
You mean it’s not OK to jump from one task to another, not really finishing anything?
Love the blog, especially sweet kiddie pictures.

I am completely with you on the organic milk and meat thing. I have to believe that not having extra hormones and extra antibiotics is a good thing. Maybe I’m just a sucker too.
Also, I think you probably just sent Krista’s traffic through the roof as how could you resist the urge to click and see what all the fuss is about?

Your dining room table looks like my king-sized bed right now. Except you don’t need to go to sleep on your table tonight.

I am delurking to tell you the “helpful” thing my husband does. He has been great to help with the laundry since our baby was born four months ago. The washer and dryer are a few feet from his computer and he rolls on over in his office chair and sorts and switches them and puts them in baskets…..then at the end of the night he dumps them all on our bed and leaves them. Ya. Then I have to fold and hang clothes up for like an hour (or longer) before I can go to bed! I think I want to switch him jobs. I would rather scrub the bathroom than put laundry away.

You and I are identical with # 6! It’s nothing about priority, all about instant gratification. And I had putting away laundry so much that it makes me want to cray. A lot. Like a baby.

I came across your blog from Queen B’s blog. I have lurked..er..um..read a little and I’ve come to 2 conclusions.
1. I think we were separated at birth. I mean, seriously, we might be the same person and just don’t know it. Most of the stuff you said about you is so much like me. I WISH I had a picture of my dining room table slash laundry pile. And I’ve never seen Gone with the Wind, either. And I’m from Alabama. People around here watch it at their 7th bday party. It’s a right of passage, like bras and ear piercing. I’m not into it at all.
2. You are hilarious - I’m funny-ish, but you are waaayyy funnier. That’s what keeps us from actually being the same person.
Nice to “meet” ya.
