Finally.
We’re here. Safe and sound.
And K and I only stopped speaking for about an hour. Over where to eat. So overall, the trip down was a breeze. I will just be sure and remember for next time that he hates McDonald*s. Who knew? It’s fast. It’s quick. It’s convenient. It’s a piece of Americana, for Pete’s sake. But, it’s also food that we can get at home. Which is apparently a big no-no in K’s road tripping guide to good eats while on vacation.
Whatever.
So where are we?
Well, we’re not at Disneyworld like some of you guessed. Because have you been to Disneyworld? With four kids? It is not a vacation. It is work. And it makes me crabby.
We are here.
Lowcountry, baby.
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
It’s got warm temperatures, blue skies, plentiful sunshine, sandy beaches, calm seas, dolphin watching, watersports, and more nature than you could ever need to surround yourself with.
It also has a bit of shopping and plenty of good places to eat.
Except for McDonald*s.

I did think you were going to the big D - but I love that place!!! My kids are older though so it is a getting a bit easier.

My man is annoyingly opposed to McDonald’s, too. Makes me crazy. We were just on a roadtip this week and we had to stop at Cracker Barrel, drag everyone in, sit and wait for our order. Added an extra hour to our trip. Could have been in and out of McD’s, but NOOOOOO.
Anyway, have a fun trip. Can’t wait to see all about it.
We were just in your neck of the woods…enjoyed a lovely six inches of snow on Friday. STUPID SNOW. It’s just wrong to have snow at Easter.

Oh, as soon as I saw that tree I knew where you were… Love Hilton Head. Very relaxing. Enough to do, but not too much. We actually own a time share there.
If you like historical stuff and your kids don’t mind riding on a “trolley” take the historic tour. However, if your kids are not really good at sitting still and taking in the sites, beware. Jeff and I took the tour (before kids) and there was a screaming baby on the trolley. The driver asked the mom to get off (because it was interrupting the tour for everyone else) and sent a car to come and get the two of them… poor mom.
Anyway, I’m sure you’ll be able to find lots of fun stuff to do and you don’t need me telling you where to go! 
Enjoy your stay down here in the south! Go ahead and use “y’all” a lot - while you have the chance! Oh, and another good one is, “Bless your heart.” We say that a lot, too.

LOVE HILTON HEAD! I am SO jealous. It’s where I went on my honeymoon! Haven’t been back since my first anniversary, which was, well, 23 years ago! *sign*
Take lots of pictures and do post about what all you do. Maybe I could talk DH into going there again soon!
Without McDonald’s, of course!

And the only thing my husband and I fight about on vacation is where to eat. It seems hubby’s vacation eating expectations are set entirely too high.

SQUEEEEELLLLL! We were in HH last August, and we’re going again this August. I love it there!! The ocean is amazingly warm in August…you must try it, if you haven’t already.
And the outlet mall shopping is the best.
