How I Spent My Weekend, and It Wasn’t Shopping. Or Napping. Or Eating Mexican Food.

So…yeah.  That about sums it up.  My three favorite weekend activities were non existent this weekend.  I’m actually glad it’s Monday so I can get back to doing things I enjoy without all of my people around.  Because my people?  Well, apparently they are tired of eating Mexican food.  I have no idea how this is even a possibility,  but whatever.  Denny’s can be just as satisfying on a Saturday night.

I had no time for a nap this weekend, either.  I have no idea what I was so busy doing, because I got exactly nothing done, but I know that there was no napping involved.

I did shop a little, but it wasn’t for me, so it doesn’t really count.

My two older girls got new beds this weekend.  We got them each a new queen size bed, so that was very exciting.  Saturday afternoon, I took them out shopping for new bedding, that was very exciting too.  There is nothing like shopping with an eight and ten year old who can’t make up their mind.  I have no idea where their indecisiveness comes from, because I am very decisive shopper.  If I like something, I like it right away.  I learned this weekend that young girls are not the same way.  They can only make a decision on if they like something or not, once they’ve eliminated the choices at seven other stores.  Then, and only then, will they know that they are happy with what they saw at the first store.

And by the time they figured that out, it will be too late in the day to bother with a nap.

Saturday was also filled with the usual sporting activities.  The Angels won again.  The Melons did not.  Those poor, poor Melons.  Saturday’s loss was the closest one yet, we only lost by three.  It was almost as sweet as I imagine a win would be.  One of these Saturdays, those Melons may even score a goal.  Watch out.

Sunday flew by.  There was the usual last minute school project to be completed, and thanks goes to Wendi for saving the day.  I shamelessly copied every suggestion she gave me, and the ABC book of South Carolina is complete.  I hope I get an A.  Third grade has been a bit challenging for me this year.

My son had a birthday party to go to in the afternoon.  For three hours.  I even bought an extra nice gift because I was so grateful to have him out of the house for three hours.  I don’t mean that in a cruel way.  I love my son.  He’s my guy, my buddy.  He also never stops talking.  So I was  really just grateful for the three hours I did not have to listen to all the talking.

Because the talking?  It never stops.

    Just so you know.

I went and picked him up when the party was over, and you’ll be glad to know the talking resumed.  And because there was an at home reptile show at the birthday party, there was plenty to talk about.  For the next five hours, non-stop talking.  About all the reptiles.

Did you know that cold blooded animals don’t bite?

And that a corn snake can be fourteen feet long?

I admire moms that can host a themed birthday party at their house.  I am not one of those moms.  I lack the necessary skill required for hosting small children in my home; patience.

    And I don’t like messes.

    Anyway.

My weekend was just so exciting I can’t begin to share anymore, for fear of making you all envious,  it was just that darn good.

I enjoyed reading all of the comments from Friday’s post.   Y’all are some criers.  I can’t wait to get started watching all of your suggestions.

So, about the contest…I have a winner.

38 is Elizabeth.  Congratulations to you.

And thanks everyone, for reading, commenting and making me laugh every day.

I don’t know if I have 200 more posts in me, I don’t even know what I could possibly have to say about tomorrow, but I’ll keep trying.  Because the blogging thing?  I do enjoy it.  And you, interpeeps.  I do enjoy you.

But you know what I enjoy most about the blogging?

It is a talk free activity.

My husband talks just as much as my boys. Imagine how much I love blogging!

I have some chatter box kids too. Though I will greatly miss them (while we are in PARIS!) (sorry - the excitement is growing) when we are in France I do look forward to being able to finish whole sentences! Maybe even a whole conversation!!

Considering twittering on my trip - what do you think? Too much chatter?

Glad you survived the weekend. My 10 and 8 year old daughters would love the chance to choose new bedding, but I can only beging to imagine the discussion and deliberation that would be involved. So what did they choose, eventually? Would it have been your choice?

    Take care

My oldest chatters non-stop too! I love her, but sometimes, my ears do need a rest ;) We’ll be glad they are talking to us during those teen years.

So, um…should I stop talking to you now? ;)

Ooh. Two bedding selections in one weekend. Are you nuts? Or maybe it was best to get it over with at once.

    Go Melons!

    Non-talking but not without conversation.

I’m so glad you’re in this game.

Ohh! No napping? So sorry. The bedding store? Priceless. It bring back LOTS of memories. I love the conversation without the talking. Great line.

Oh I’m so glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t enjoy hosting young children in my home. It’s not just the messes though. It’s the slamming of the doors or the leaving open of the doors. It’s the constant in and out of the house. It’s the throwing things indoors that really have no business of being thrown indoors.

My poor kids are well-versed on the rules so they don’t have these issues. At home that is. They probably go to birthday parties and whatnot and act as if they’ve no clue what manners are.

Oh Lisa, I’m sorry that you didn’t get to do your favorite things this weekend. Tell your family that we put cheese and salsa on EVERYTHING except cereal and ice cream! Ha! I thought about you when I was at Target on Saturday. Mr. Khaki Pants even said “Thank You” when he gave me my change. I almost cried!! Hugs!

That’s a big AMEN from me sitting right here in the front row. My third grade son is so yummy, I could eat him.

    But he talks incessantly.

I invoked a vehicular code of silence on Saturday night. It was a seven minute car ride from the pizza place to home.

    It nearly killed him.

Most common question from the backseat?

“So. What do you want to talk about?”

Because why ever would we not talk?????

There might be a post in that somewhere…….

I am sorry you missed out on those three fabulous things… but atleast you got a few things checked off your “to-do” list…right? You are certainly welcome about the SC facts… but really no need for thanks…they were just funny little things I knew. I really didn’t think you would use them. Glad it helped. Hope it gets you an “A”.
Talking around here…it never stops either…never… but I am afraid some of that is my fault.

I always feel like I am going non-stop on the weekends but don’t get anything done…except load/unload/load/unload the dishwasher.

I can’t hardly make it though the weekend without Mexican food and a nap either! You did have a busy weekend. I hope the long one coming up will include a nap and a little mexican food.

    1. NO NAP??? Well, that’s just wrong.

    2. The bedding….what did they end up with and where did you look? I’ve been thinking about getting Noodle a double bed. But the bedding! Argh. I’ll have to let go of my control-freak tendencies and let her pick it out herself. Evolving as a person is tough for me.

    3. Ha haaaaaa! I hope you get an “A” too! I think third grade was tough for me the first time around, so I’m hoping it’s better next year when Noodle and I get there.

    4. Noodle’s birthday was at the end of April. I still haven’t had a party for her. I’m waiting ’til the community pool opens so we can have a little party there.

    You crack me up.
