In fourteen hundred ninety-two Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

In two thousand and eight Lisa did nothing except sleep really late.

So really, Chris and I both know how to make good use of our time.  I sleep in.  He discovers North America.

But hey, in my defense, it was a dark and cloudy morning, perfect for sleeping late.

And I think it’s against the law or something to set an alarm clock on days off from school.  Well if it’s not, it should be, don’t you think?

So I didn’t get out of bed until 10:30 today, and can I say, it was wooonderfulll.

I heard two of my kids playing about 7:30, and I rolled over.

I felt a tap on my back about 8:30, my son wanted breakfast, “Whenever you get up,” he said.  Well since he put it that way, I rolled over again.

At 9:15 a text from B reminded me that the rest of the world was up and functioning already.  I thought about getting up at that point.  But the darkness of my room and the sound of children quietly watching TV made it so tempting to roll over yet again.  So I did.

When the sound of peaceful TV watching turned into the sound of the WWF Junior League in my family room, I could not ignore my parenting responsibilities any longer.  So I got up.  But I really didn’t want to.

(I like to think it still counts as sleeping until 10:30 even if I was interrupted every hour or so.)

((I choose to believe it does, because I haven’t slept without interruptions in ten years.))

So I figured, since I slept through breakfast, I might as well continue the trend of supreme parenting that was taking place today, and I hopped in my car and got everyone McDonald’s.  It was a brunch of happy meals.

Followed by a day spent in my pj’s.

    It was a good day.

Topher C didn’t even know where he was! You my stranger, knew exaclty where you were, surrounded my the great comforter, hunkering in for some overdue late morning zzz’s. You are the wiser one in this tale.

    Sorry about the early text…

Good for you! There is nothing better than a day of sleeping late. (Unless it is sleeping late with no interruptions.)

Y’all get out of school for Columbus Day?

Hey, that sounds pretty much like our day!! Except we don’t have a McDonald’s anywhere close by, but we had pancakes for supper. In our pajamas. In my defense, it was alternately raining and snowing all day long.

Oh happy day! And nothing wrong with a brunch happy meal. We took it to the park and enjoyed a couple of hours in the good ol’ outdoors.
