One of these days I just might get that M.D. after my name, if this isn’t my last post that is
I think there’s a song about two world’s colliding. I don’t remember it exactly, but I’m pretty sure that’s what is happening to me right now.
I have not entered one single Bloggy Giveaway. I haven’t written a thing for this blog. I haven’t commented on any blogs I read. If you’ve emailed me, well, I haven’t emailed you back. And I’m sorry.
But my real life has trumped all things on-line this week.
I am busy. Very busy.
Why is it that I can sit around for weeks and really have nothing to do except read blogs, talk on the phone, shop online, maybe make a great dinner, and look in the mirror all day obsessing over my hair color? Why is that?
But then, a week like this one hits and I have multiple places to be everyday, a million things to do at home, and my kids have very detailed school projects due, including one that has me stringing fishing line through styrofoam balls and calling it our solar system.
And is a metallic copper color a good choice for Saturn? Or would Saturn lean a little more towards a brighter orange color? Or should I save that for Mars? Wait. Isn’t Mars red? I have no idea, I’m just wondering. Because I’m worrying about these kinds of things this week.
And also, I’m sick. Very sick.
Why do I always get sick when I have a busy week? Why can’t I be sick when the only thing written in my planner is Pick a new hair color? Or maybe Order new shoes from Zappos? Those are the kind of things I can do while I’m sick.
But no. I only seem to get sick when I have no time to lie around and actually be sick. And, AND, I only get sick after I’ve already made the trip to the doctor with one of my kids whom, it never fails, will always be sick when we are supposed to be going on vacation. It would be too easy for me to already be sick when I actually am making a trip to the doctor. And it would be way too easy for my kids to actually stay healthy when, you know, we are trying to leave the flippin country.
So this week, I did what any other mother worth her salt would do when she is busy and has no time to get herself to the doctor. I self diagnosed. And rifled through all the half used pill bottles in the cabinet and came up with a wonderfully potent combination of used drugs for myself.
I’ve got some leftover Hydrocodone for my poor ribs that are suffering from my coughing spells. Some Cipro for two days, and when those run out I’ve got about six days of Keflex ready to go. And I’ve done extensive research via Google.com that these two antibiotics are, in fact, just the kind I need. For the illness I think I have.
I laugh in the face of four years of medical school and three years of a residency.
Who needs a doctor when you’ve got leftover pills prescribed for your husband’s toe?
Well, I might.
If I never post again then that probably means I’ve overdosed and died because I’m not a pharmacist or a doctor. I just play around on the computer and pretend.
But it doesn’t matter. I will do whatever it takes to get through this week.
Because next week?
I will be here…

So today, as I cough up a lung, scramble to finish a to-do list numbered to 53, and listen to Blue October, Nickleback and Nirvana blasting through my house, I will keep my eye on the prize.
And what a good prize it is.

Now what you mean. I will be in a similar place next week (friend’s wedding, without family) but there’s just so much to do. I kept reminding myself that this time next week…
Have fun!

Um, I’m no doctor, but I’m thinking you might need one. I hear they’ve got a clinic in Wal-Mart….

I am not a doctor, but I am married to one!

I’ve gone that self-medicating route before. Not pretty. See the doctor, get a shot and you will be well before you go. I just had to go back the second time for more medicine. I’m going to FL next week and I refuse to be sick!! Get well.

Missy…you need to not wait too long before you go see a doctor! I wouldn’t want you to miss that trip for nothing in the world!
Who knows given the RIGHT med’s you could feel better overnight!
By the way, my twin, I call her DR. G….-our maiden name, because well, my dad like to think he was a doctor. So she got her training from him. If you need another opinion other than your own, pop over to her page. Maybe she could help figure out what else you need to do to get well fast! Just an idea you know…for what it’s worth! ![]()
Here’s hoping whatever you do, you feel better soon!
