So you can say you knew her when…

Before I show you what I want to show you today, I want to thank each and every one of you for the kind comments and emails I  received yesterday.  As I sat down and read them, I was overwhelmed and humbled, again, that you come here to read this old blog, and that you take the time to comment.  I so appreciate every single kind and caring word I received.

It is great to be funny and entertaining, but it is also important to be real.   And what’s real right now is the funk I’m in.

    —————————————-

Gracie was busy today.  She loves to do art ‘pwah-jects.’  We always have the art cabinet open around here during the day.  Unless I am trying to clean up before the kids get home from school.  Then I must put my foot down and say no to the ‘pwah-jects.’  But usually, she is able to create as much as her little heart desires.

And it desires A-LOT of time to create.

This is her latest masterpiece.  I like to think of it as a mixed media piece.

    DSC01872

Notice the collage like quality of it?  And the one strategically placed marshmallow?  The marshmallow is the essence of the mixed media.  Otherwise, it is just a plain old collage.

And according to the episode of The Apprentice that I just watched, mixed media art is quite valuable.

    MG art

If that is true, then once the bottle of glue dries on this, the possibilities are really endless for my young artist.

I’ll even let you take a little peak behind the scenes.  Because it is not everyday you get to see the tools of the trade.

    MG art

Much like a chef has a secret ingredient, my little artist has a secret too.  Purell hand sanitizer.  Taking the art world by storm.

I tried to get a picture of Gracie with her latest ‘pwah-ject,’ but she would not cooperate.

You know how temperamental artists can be.

    —————————————-

In other news, the boy lost his second tooth.  And he is just as proud as can be.

    DSC01873

    So am I.

And that is one serious showing-off-a-missing-tooth face, isn’t it?

When the boy means business, he means business.

Do you know what I’m doing tonight?  Well, I have a date.  I may even pull out the flat iron.  My date’s a pretty special guy.  He’s taking me to a hockey game.

Did you know I love hockey?

We go to a lot of hockey games, but tonight we are going without the kids.  As in, just the two of us.  Hence the title, date.  And we have really, really good seats.  You might even see me on TV, if you were watching.

I love a guy that will take me to a hockey game.

And given that a hockey game is my date of choice, I think he loves me too.

Awwww….love the art and congrats to Taco for that toothless smile.

I, too, love hockey!! In fact? I get a little crazy at a hockey game. Hockey is one of the very few sports I will watch on TV.

    See? Sistahs.

Great art - don’t jest, my brother is now selling his art at up to £4000 ($8000) and we used to joke about how much his art was worth. Now I wish I had kept a few of his work from his “early years”.

Never been to a hockey game (I assume you are talking ice hockey?)

So, are you listing that artwork, or just teasing us with it? ;)

I hope you and Special K have a spectacular time tonight! I know dates are hard to come by and it sounds like you are gearing up for it. Hopefully it’s just what you need. :)

    Have a great time!

Thanks for the sharing the art. It’s wonderful to see what other budding artists are creating since I too have one. I hadn’t really thought about posting her “watercolors” but I think I will now. Have fun at the hockey game. Thanks for making me think back to our bowling dates.

LOVE her collage! You are right, mixed media is all the rage right now. Don’t you just love to see how their little creative brains turn and how they use ordinary things in original ways. So cool.

Congrats on the tooth little man!

Have a wonderful hockey date tonight! I have never been to a game (head hung in shame), but they do seem FUN.

Your man’s got himself a good woman!! What a dream date! Hope you had a good time!

That had to be the most interesting episode of The Apprentice ever! I stayed up WAY too late to watch it, but I’m glad I did!!

For our 10-year anniversary, my husband took me to a playoff hockey game. (Minnesota Wild vs. Vancouver.) That man GETS me.

Have super, super fun tonight. It’s high school hockey tourney in Minnesota this weekend — some of the best hockey of the year is on TV right now. (That’s right; the high school hockey tourney is on TV in Minnesota. We’re practically Canadian.)

Sometimes being real is so…um revealing and really quite scary. Exposed is what I feel after I hit “post” on my most “real” posts. But ya know, it does feel better getting it out of my head!!

    Love the arteest ;)
Missing teeth is one of my favorite looks for this age group. My seven year old daughter STILL has a hole in her mouth since August. LOL. I love it.

Really, what is art without a gallon of glue and a quart of hand sanitizer.

And I hope that the tooth fairy pays a special visit to your boy tonight.

    Have a great Date Night!!!

I think mixed media pwah-jects must me a girl thing. My hubby and I were out of town for meetings at the end of the week and we came home to quite the masterpiece ourselves. It is hanging on the fridge as I type.
