    Tiny Talk Tuesday

I am really enjoying the Tiny Talk Tuesday posts at Not Before 7.
They are a lot of fun to read!

Last week, we were driving to visit a children’s museum in a town that is about 30 minutes away from us. This is not a big city, with towering skyscrapers or any public transportation besides the bus to speak of, and the population is around 200,000. This town is more of a place where all the shopping and dining is at! A town you would drive to visit when you needed maybe something a little more than your local Wal-Mart or Target had to offer. Keep in mind, even though this town is not a big city by any means, the tallest building is a whopping 5 stories tall. And they not only have a Dairy Queen, but 3 (yes 3!) DQ Chill and Grill restaurants. A place deserving of a post all to its own.

So anyway….we are driving to the museum and stopped at a red light and my 8 year old daughter says “Mom, are we in The City?” And she had such amazement and wonder in her voice I did not have the heart to say what I was really thinking…”Honey…clearly we need to get you out more!”

My 8 year old, Choppy, also had this meaningful insight for me recently. We were looking at a picture of her christening, she was 10 days old, her older sister was 16 months and my husband and I each had 1 of them in our arms. Now, granted, in this picture I was 8 years younger than I am right now. And really rockin’ a green plaid dress with lace trim in all my 10 days post partum glory.

But still…that is really NOT THAT LONG AGO!

So I thought it a bit rude when she looked at the picture and “WOW! Mom, you looked SOOOOOO YOUNG!”

    “You looked so young”.
I know I used to look young too.
