We are officially back in school. I have pictures of everyone in their new clothes to prove it.
Here are the obligatory first day of school/look at our new clothes pictures.
My pre-dawn rising and nerves were unnecessary, as it turns out, the kids were fine. They were more than fine, they each had a great day, which is music to this momma’s ears.
I ended up being fine too, except for the zombie like state I was in from lack of sleep.
So, unless you’re Grandma, you probably are not interested in these photos.
But I think first day of school photos are like the law or something, so here they are.
(Have I ever mentioned I have no first day of school pictures of myself? I don’t, but that is another whole post.)

This is my early morning hours attempt at an artsy shot. Basically, it was 5:30am and I had everyone’s lunch and snack prepared. Two and one half hours ahead of schedule. So I had a little time for a photo shoot. And when I saw this picture, I said to myself, “Listen Self. You cannot pull off an artsy shot.”
So I apologize. I had way too much time on my hands yesterday morning.
The gang is all ready to go. And LOOK! They are not even fighting. Or yelling.
And ALSO! No one is hitting, pinching, or poking someone else.
I promise it is really them.
This is what fifth grade looks like in our house. She is totally my favorite.
And this is someone who has been waiting to start fourth grade since the last day of third grade. She is absolutely my favorite.
And this? This is my boy. My first grader. Look at that face. Do you see that face? You have no idea the naughty that is behind that face. God Bless his teacher.
And also, his mother. ‘Cause he is definitely my favorite.
But look! Home again, home again. They came home promptly at 3:45 to a little sister and a momma who were very happy to see them.
And then it was time to cut loose.

If it makes you feel better, there are no “first day of school” photos from my childhood either. sigh. But I’ll be alright, I’ll just take 400 on the first day of school EVERY YEAR of my kids. Then it will all be made right. (:

i could just pinch those cute little faces….
all very cute…
but what i really noticed was how clean and tidy your counter top is with the lunches and snacks organized…woman you put me to shame!
ps when you start that other blog- the one where you talk of your childhood -make sure i get the heads up- we can compare notes

Great pictures. Yea I think it’s the law to take that picture on the first day of school. I do it to both of my kids. This was actually the first year that I couldn’t take a picture of my daughter because she doesn’t live with me anymore. And it’s her senior year so I would have loved to have one.
Looked like they were ready for the school day ahead. My son hated that I took a picture of him before school and then a pic in the car and then a pic of him walking to school from the car. He just doesn’t get it!!! This is the last time I will get to do these things as he is my baby.

Great first day of school photos - and I admire your attempt to have an artistic photo shoot at that hour of the morning.
The new clothes are gorgeous - did you/they agree on the choices, or was there some persuasion required to reach a compromise?
I am so glad we have school uniforms here! WAY too much stress/decisions to be made every morning.
